During Divorce
Colorado
Assume everything you post can end up in front of the judge. The vacation, the new partner, the bragging, the venting, all of it can be used against you.
Social media is a gift to the other side's lawyer. Posts about a lavish vacation or a big purchase undercut your claim that you can't afford support. Photos with a new romantic partner can inflame an already tense case. Party pictures can be twisted into questions about your parenting. Even venting about your ex can be screenshotted and presented as evidence of hostility or instability.
The safe rule during a divorce: post nothing about your finances, your dating life, your ex, or your case. Tighten your privacy settings (but don't assume "private" means safe), and never delete posts after a case starts, because destroying potential evidence creates its own legal problems.
