Co-ParentingParenting

If you can't co-parent because your ex is high-conflict, there's a recognized alternative called parallel parenting: you both stay involved with the kids while interacting with each other as little as possible.

Each parent runs the day-to-day in their own home, contact between the adults is kept to a minimum and stays strictly logistical (often in writing, through a co-parenting app), and you split events and appointments rather than attending them side by side. The goal isn't to push a parent out. Kids do best staying meaningfully involved with both parents. It's to shield the children from the conflict by reducing friction between the grown-ups.
