Maintenance

Maybe. It's not automatic. Maintenance depends on one spouse's financial need and the other's ability to pay. For marriages of 3-20 years with combined income up to $240,000, Colorado's advisory formula (roughly 40% of the higher income minus 50% of the lower, tax-adjusted) suggests an amount and duration, but a judge can adjust or decline it. It's most likely in longer marriages with a real income gap; least likely in shorter marriages between two earners. Above the income cap, or for very short or very long marriages, there's no formula and the judge has full discretion.
