What If My Spouse Won't Cooperate?
Process
During Divorce
Colorado
FilingOut-of-State
You don't need your spouse's permission or cooperation to get divorced in Colorado. If they won't sign a waiver of service, you have them formally served by a process server or sheriff. If they won't respond within their deadline (21 days in-state, 35 out-of-state), you can proceed toward a default. If you can't even find them after a documented search, the court can allow alternative service (though that can limit certain financial orders).
