A full case can take months. Either spouse can ask the court for temporary orders that set the rules for the in-between periods (e.g. temporary parenting time, temporary child support, temporary maintenance, who stays in the home, and who pays which bills). These are interim, not final, but they matter more than the "temporary" label suggests. While they are not intended to be presumptive of the final outcome, for instance, a temporary parenting schedule that appears to work well can make it more likely for that to become a final order by the court. Treat the temporary orders hearing seriously.
