Most Colorado districts use Family Court Facilitators, court staff who help move domestic cases along. The court may order you to meet with one for the Initial Status Conference. A facilitator conducts status conferences, explains the procedural steps and deadlines, helps identify the issues actually in dispute, and points you toward options for resolving them. What they can't do is give legal advice or take sides, and they generally don't meet with parties just on request. They act at the court's direction. The Family Court Facilitator is helpful for understanding the process, but not a substitute for your own lawyer.
