During Divorce
Denver
The City and County of Denver is its own judicial district, the 2nd. You file at the Denver District Court, and the court runs a Self-Help Center plus free monthly family-law clinics.
Denver is unusual in that the city and county are a single judicial district. Dissolution cases are filed with the Denver District Court (the civil and domestic courtrooms sit in the City and County Building downtown) and carry a "DR" case number. For self-represented people, Denver's Self-Help Center is a useful resource. The staff help you understand the right forms and procedures throughout the case and even after final orders, though they can't give legal advice.
Denver's Self-Help Center hosts a virtual "Family Law Ask-a-Lawyer" clinic (volunteer attorneys answer questions) on a set day each month, and Colorado Legal Services runs monthly in-person intakes at the courthouse to see whether you qualify for free help with divorce and custody. Check the Denver Courts self-help page for current dates and whether you qualify for these services.
