As of January 2025 the old 18th Judicial District split in two. The 18th is now just Arapahoe County (courthouse in Centennial); Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln counties became the brand-new 23rd Judicial District (with courthouses located in Castle Rock, Kiowa, and Hugo).

For decades the 18th was Colorado's largest district, covering Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln counties. On January 14, 2025 it divided, the first new Colorado judicial district in about 60 years. Arapahoe County alone now makes up the 18th (its cases run through the Arapahoe County Justice Center in Centennial), while Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln counties form the new 23rd.

If you live in Douglas County (Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Parker, Lone Tree), your dissolution now belongs to the 23rd District, not the 18th, and some older guides, forms lists, and websites haven't caught up. When you file, search your case, or look for approved parenting-class providers, make sure you're in the correct district.
