Emotional Health
The legal divorce might wrap up in a few months, but emotional recovery usually takes far longer. Counselors who work with divorce often describe a grieving process that peaks in roughly the first six months and can run two years or more. The people who come through it best tend to lean on support (friends, family, a therapist, a support group), hold off on big decisions and rebound relationships while the dust settles, and give themselves permission to not be "fine" yet. If you have kids, your steadiness is also theirs.
